Come Send Round The Wine PDF

Free lead sheet for Saint Patrick's Day!

A woman holding a Ukulele
Catherine is ready to play an Irish Melody!

I'm continuing to add songs to: "Moore for My Mother," for St. Patrick's Day. I created a ukulele tutorial for this song on YouTube, and I'll post it as soon as I'm done with the editing. The chords in the lead sheet you see below are excellent for piano as well.

Besides, if you're out in a pub on St. Patrick's Day you can just startt singing, and invite the crowd to sing along. Any true fans of Thomas Moore's Irish Melodies will surely join in.

Here is an image of the Come Send Round The Wine PDF if you'd rather copy and paste.

Come, Send Round the WineBy Thomas Moore

               F                          C                          F                C

Come, send round the wine, and leave points of belief

        F                                   Dm             C

To simpleton sages and reasoning fools;

                                F                C           F

This moment's a flower too fair and brief

            C                   F                       Dm              C

To be wither'd and stain'd by the dust of the schools.

          F                       C                 F                      C

Your glass may be purple, and mine may be blue,

            C                                              F           Dm    C

But, while they are fill'd from the same bright bowl,

          C                           F                  C                  F

The fool who would quarrel for difference of hue,

                                                           Dm                C

Deserves not the comfort they shed o'er the soul.

             F                          C                  F                   C

Shall I ask the brave soldier, who fights by my side

                F                                        Dm        C

In the cause of mankind, if our creeds agree?

                                  F                       C               F

Shall I give up the friend I have valued and tried,

             C                F                            Dm         C

If he kneel not before the same altar with me?

                   F           C               F                      C

From the heretic girl of my soul should I fly?

          C                            F                      Dm         C

To seek somewhere else a more orthodox kiss?

           C               F                        C              F

No, perish the hearts, and the laws that try

                                                    Dm               C

Truth, valour, or love, by a standard like this!
